Bobby Harris
URJ Camp Coleman
Director
Married to Ellen and the proud father of Max and Sophie Harris, the summer of 2018 will mark the 32nd summer that Bobby Harris has served as a Camp Director for the Jewish community in New York, Philadelphia- and the last 25 with URJ Camp Coleman in Cleveland, GA. As a camp professional he has made a strong and wide contribution to the field of Jewish camping having been involved with the creation of the URJ's Olim Fellowship for Camp Counselors , the 6 Points Sports Academy, and the Lech Lecha Fellowship for Israeli shlichim. Bobby was also the first camp director to hire members of the Ugandan Jewish community to work in a summer camp. Coleman staff and campers are always eager to listen to Bobby's stories including those of his most famous character "Tookie the Toucan" who, along with his many other adventures, saves the great rainforest. Having never forgotten the prime importance of the camper-counselor bond, Bobby also created an innovative mentoring and B'nai Mitzvah program for the URJ entitled J-Jolt which stands for" Jewish journey of a LifeTime". When he is not doing any of the above, you can find Bobby walking his dog Willie or cheering heartily for the Pittsburgh Steelers .
