Don't Say "Non-Jew": How to Embrace Interfaith Families

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

With children from interfaith families comprising a greater percentage of our camp populations each summer, camps need to ensure that campers from interfaith families feel truly comfortable and embraced at camp. This session will address how participants can be sure that their camp uses language and optics that are welcoming and inclusive of children from interfaith families on the website, in marketing pamphlets and brochures, in written communication with camp families and throughout the camp itself. We will also discuss how camps can effectively and sensitively communicate with children from interfaith families and their parents and how to ensure that other campers are respectful of those from interfaith families. As a result of attending this session, camp staff will be better prepared to make sure that children from interfaith families will feel truly welcome and included and have a positive camp experience.
